If you prefer more unique accomodation with a local flavour in a natural surrounding rather than expensive international luxury hotels and don’t mind a bit of improvisation this is the right place for you.
In order to make the most of your stay at Putri Pandan Resort here is some information you may want to read before your arrival.
Climate & Seasons
The climate in Bintan is similar to Singapore with year-round tropical temperatures between 24 – 32 °C. However the sea-breeze makes it feel a little bit cooler and less humid. Monsoon season lasts from November to January. During this time the weather may be windier and more rainy and higher waves and less clear water conditions may make this season less suitable for swimming.
Tides & Water conditions
Putri Pandan Resort’s location in a sheltered bay makes the water clear and shallow, suitable also for families with small children.
High tide and low tide change approximately every six hours, but times shift slightly every day. Tidal conditions also depend on the time of the month, with higher tides during full or new moon.
Swimming directly in front of the resort is possible during high tide. During low tide the sea retracts making it possible to reach Sumpat island by foot.
Deeper sea can be found behind Sumpat Island. Boat tours are available during high tides.
Location
Putri Pandan Resort is located about 40 - 50 minutes drive from Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry terminal outside the Bintan International Resorts area, 30 minutes from Trikora beach or one hour from Tanjung Pinang ferry terminal.
Money & Prices
Prices in Bintan are generally higher compared to the rest of Indonesia as many goods are imported from Singapore. Prices are especially steep within the luxury hotels of the Bintan International Resort area.
Prices at Putri Pandan Resort are more moderate, but there are only very limited shopping possibilities nearby. More shopping is available near Bintan Resort Ferries terminal (Pasar Oleh Oleh etc) and in the city of Tanjung Pinang. Shop prices are usually fixed prices but some discounts may be possible.
Singapore dollars are exepted within the Bintan International Resort area. At Putri Pandan Resort we except both Singapore Dollars and Indonesian Rupiah (cash only). The nearest ATM or money changers are located in Tanjung Pinang or near Bintan Resort Ferries terminal.
Visa and Immigration
All visitors require a passport with at least 6 months validity remaining.
Visitors for most Asean countries and a few other countries don't require a visa to Indonesia. Visa-on-arrival is available for visitors from more than 60 nationalities and can be obtained directly from the immigration in Bintan. Costs are 25 USD for a 30 day visa. (Payment in Singapore dollar is also excepted but the exchange rate is poor.)
Nature & wildlife
The land and beaches around Putri Pandan Resort are still largely undevelopped. Around Sumpat island you can find some interesting interesting marine life and corals for snorkelling.
In these natural surroundings the presence of insects etc can not be avoided. All our rooms therefore come equipped with mosquito nets. Although malaria prophylaxe is not required, it is advisable to bring some good mosquito repellant suitable for tropics (i.e). Insect repellant is also usefull to protect against sand flies which can be found along the beaches in Bintan. Although not their bite is not dangerous the itch can be a bit unconfortable.
